What an ugly name for my project, but there you have it - #8 Slouchy Top from Knit.1 magazine, Spring/Summer 2008.
What drew me to the pattern was the thought of soft Jaeger Roma instead of the shimmer of Urban Silk that designer Galina Carol used. That, and the knit in one piece approach. The only other item I've done that with was Zimmerman's Baby Surprise Jacket (another "heat" in my Ravelrympics event of WIPs Wrestling). I also liked the concept of using this to practice stockinette and "backwards knitting" instead of purling back across.
I think it's going to be simply lovely despite it's moniker. It is knit nearly all in one piece, sideways from the left cuff to the right cuff. The basket weave collar is picked up along the neck after the side and arm seams are sewn. This detail also graces the edge of the cuff and hem.
Jaeger Roma is soft to touch, and mine is a sort of misty spring green. I so enjoy working with this yarn. It's stretchy, but bounces back to hold a shape well. I'm sure it would stand up to cables nicely. Hmm . . . have to find another deal on it for the Cable Luxe. (I got the Roma for $1.99 from Smileysyarns.com - what a steal!)

I think this sweater is a shoe-in for Ravelrympics, knitting back and forth with the front always facing me makes it fast work. Here's what it looked like a day or two ago.
I hear my knitting calling -- oh, shoot, it's the cats in the stash -- gotta go!
